Tango Tourism

Buenos Aires offers the possibility of experiencing Tango dances in the entire city.

Horacio Ferrer was right when he said that “The little afternoons of Buenos Aires have an I-don’t-know-what” and millions of foreigners who visited the city during 2006 think the same.

According to a study carried out by Booz Allen & Hamilton in 2006, a world brand with the same importance than Coca Cola. The City of Buenos Aires, where Tango was created at the beginning of XX century, exploits this culture to the full.

Every year, the Tango Dance World Championship takes place in the City. More than 200.000 persons assist. The shows, dances and all kind of merchandising offer the visitants, both, local and foreigner, the opportunity to experience tango from inside.

The championship divides the competitors in two categories. Room Tango and Scenery Tango for partners. The first one has the main objective of promote the social dance in an international level as a popular practice authentically Argentina. Giving more importance to the constant hug, the style, the movement on the dance floor, the rhythm and the time. But, the second category is a spectacle-dance, in which the choreographic composition, the use of the scenic space, the interpretation, synchronization, the clothes and the make up. 

The “one hundred neighborhood of Buenos Aires” offer to the tourist different shows from milongas to private lessons adn in group. Dinner-shows take part of this tourist circuit by excellence where the combination pf the typical Argentine food with music and tango dances are the most visited places by lovers of this Argentine (From Río de la Plata)

At all over the world.

Tango was born and live in every corner of the City Buenos Aires. From “San Juan and Boedo” to “Corrientes and Esmeralda”. From “the ghost of La Boca” to “the ghost of Belgrano”, all is part of this culture that colours and identifies the City all over the world.
