
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation recently created by the newly elected Argentine President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, will set up a scientific complex in the heart of the city of Buenos Aires.
"This project stands as an architectural metaphor of what we aim at achievieng in science and technology in our country", asserted Lino Barañao, the brand-new minister of said department. It is an undertaking involving a far-reaching goal since it will group together the premises of such department and the ones belonging to the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET).
It will also be the venue for the Agency of Technology and Science Promotion offices and those of the Argentine Center for Scientific and Technical Information (Caicyt). The above mentioned endeavour is scheduled to be completed by 2010.
Nevertheless, the most significant event taking place will be the installation of a worldwide and cross-sectional research hub, an interactive museum, and a convention center enabling to organize scientific events and disclose information to the community.
Barañao stated that he would pursue the achievement of biomedicine, nanobiotechnology and social sciences breakthroughs. Furthermore, he highlighted that "there exists no other place in the country allowing for this type of integration".
