After going through Chile, where drivers challenged the Copiapó dunes, the teams return to our country to run the crucial stages of the race. The twelfth stage boots in Fiambalá in the province of Catamarca.
With the completion of the tenth stage the Dakar Rally said goodbye to the trans-Andean country. On that stage, the teams visited a total of 686 kilometers, 476 of which were timed. Besides the heat, the riders had to defy the dunes of Copiapó, in one of the most difficult of all the competition. Moreover, the climatic conditions of the region -a plenty fog- forced organizers to suspend the eleventh stage.
Now the teams are preparing to face the last and decisive stages of the race, which will have Argentina as scenario again. The twelfth stage begins in the city of Fiambalá, in Catamarca, and ends in La Rioja. With his spectacular victory in the tenth day -he has already won two in Dakar-, the Argentine Marcos Patronelli remains in second place in the overall rankings in the quadricycles category . Moreover, the mendocino Orly Terranova, who was serving a remarkable performance, had to leave the competition after his car overturned.
