The Dakar Rally will be held again in Argentine and Chilean land in 2010. Edition 32 of the world´s most famous rally has been presented at a press conference in Buenos Aires. The Argentine president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, met with the organizers of the Dakar in the Olivos presidential House.

The start will be on January 2 in Buenos Aires and the arrival is scheduled for January 17 in the same city.

The new route has also been defined, at least in its general route: with Buenos Aires as a point of departure and arrival, competitors must move to the northwest, crossing the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, San Luis and San Juan, to cross Cordillera to go to Chile and rising, as in the latest edition to the Atacama Desert, then descend and cross into Argentina at the height of Mendoza, travel through La Pampa and reach the podium in Buenos Aires.

The organizers proposed new routes looking for adventure for their competitors in new regions and proposes a renewed and intense challenge from the potential offered by both Argentina and Chile. In addition, the Dakar Rally will be held in the framework of the celebrations for the bicentenary of Argentina and Chile.

According to the organizers of the competition, the success of the sporty and popular enthusiasm for its development were two of the main reasons for choosing, for the second consecutive year, the country as the venue of the rally

After a first experience in South America, the wealth of their land, the intensity of the challenge accepted by the competitors and the enthusiasm of the public convinced them to the authorities of both countries and those in charge of the rally to renew this adventure.

The Dakar 2009 not only showed Argentina and its stunning scenery in the eyes of the world, but also an became an important income for the country: more than $ 54 million in food and lodge.
