Several provinces in the west and north of Argentina offer several visits to vineyards, wineries and restaurants where the wine is the indisputable star. According to a study of Wineries in Argentina, in 2006 a total of 1,004,810 of tourist travel along the Paths of Wine in Argentina.
The growth of the quantity of tourists who visit these routes (45%) has been bigger than the growth of total of those who visit Argentina (15.3%). The Province of Mendoza (in the western part) is the province with most visited wineries, but in San Juan and Salta the abundance of tourist has considerably increased.
Tradition with the most varied offer
The Argentine province of Mendoza is the most traditional in wine production. In this province, located at the food of Cordillera de los Andes, you can find a quantity of wineries López, Valentín Bianchi, San Telmo, Escorihuela, Cavas de Weinert, J&F Lurton, Trapiche, Flichman, La Rural, Norton, Félix Lavaque, Lagarde, Navarro Correas, Nieto Senetiner, Goyenechea and Chandon.

Center region: it comprises the departments of Godoy Cruz, Guaymallén, Maipú y Luján de Cuyo. The wines produced in these wineries – industrial, familiar and “boutique”- are renowned. These establishments are not so far away from the city (20 kilometers), so, the tourists can visit every establishment. It this region there is several hotels and restaurants in order to have a rest.
Valle del Cuyo: it is a Valley with approximately 1,200 meters high and it is conformed by the departments of Tunuyán, Tupungato and San Carlos. It situated approximately 100 kilometers away from the city of Mendoza and its wineries are big and well-equipped with modern installations for the elaboration of “Premium” wines.
The Valle Central comprises the departments of San Martín, Santa Rosa, Rivadavia and La Paz and it is proud of having and important quantity of vineyards in Mendoza. Its wineries are situates to 50 kilometers away from the City. The elaboration of “premium” wine has been increased and it is receiving an important quantity of tourists.
South Region: actually, it is situated in the center of the province and it comprises the departments of General Alvear and San Rafael. San Rafael is situated 260 kilometers to the south of the city of Mendoza and it has famous wineries.
It is easy to find in all these regions very good places to enjoy the gastronomy of the zone, such as restaurants, wineries. Talking about the accommodations, there are urban and rural hotels, guest houses etc.
