The beauty of the Valles Calchaquíes

The wine growing was introduced in Salta by the Spanish Jesuits in the Valles Calchaquíes. The stock of Torrontés predominate which is distinguished by its flavor and scent.

In this province was the best altitude for the growing of vine with enough sun, slope terrains a high huge temperature, warm days and cold days soil with stones and sand irrigated with the water of the mountains. In the Valles Calchaquíes, the tourists can travel around the departments of Cafayate, San Carlos, Angastaco and Molinos. Among the red wines, we can mention Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Tannat, Bonarda, Syrah, Barbera and Tempranillo.

Some of the wineries of this province are: La Banda, Colomé, Etchart, La Rosa-Michel Torino, Nanni, Humanao, Tacuil, San Pedro de Yacochuya, Animana, Orfila, Finca las Nubes, Etchart, El Porveninr y Félix Lavaque.the route of wine starts in the capital city of Salta, acrosses the Valle de Lerma and finishes in Cafayate.

When Valles de Lerma is left behind, the Quebrada de Escoipe and the Cuesta del Obisco go to the Valle Calchaquí where to the 2,280 meters high are situated the Cachi town , with vineyards produce craft wines as in Seclantanás. On the other hand, the old locality of Molinos extends the high altitude wines and craft wines.

In Colomé are produced the Cabernet-Malbec and the fruit wine. The route continues in Angastaco, San Carlos and Animaná. Finally, in Cafayateis, surrounded by vineyards  and wineries, are celebrated the Torrontes Party.
