Beauties of Humankind
Ischigualasto

The Parque de Ischigualasto or Valle de la Luna (the Moon Valley) is located in San Juan province.

Provincia de San Juan

Argentina is endowed with 8 natural and cultural areas having been declared Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO.

There follows a list displaying the areas declared Heritage of Mankind in Argentina
This park is located in the Southeast region of Santa Cruz province. This National Park was created in order to preserve a wide area of continental ice blocks and glaciers located in the southern region of Andine-Patagonic woods. To the south of this park, there stands the Perito Moreno Glacier, regarded as the glacier most frequently visited by tourists.
The ruins of the ancient Jesuit missions are near Posadas. The most awesome are those of San Ignacio Mini, but also outstanding the Santa Ana and Loreto. In 1984 they were named as Heritage of Humanity.
This park is aimed at preserving the Iguazú river falls, one of the most staggering natural beauties of Argentina. Embedded in a widely diverse natural subtropical rainforest located in the northern region of Misiones province, the park covers an area of 67,000 hectares.
Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Chubut province, this peninsula crowds in a varied and large sealife population ranging from whales to Magallanes penguins.
Located in the gully of the Alto Río Pinturas (High Pinturas river) valley in Santa Cruz province, south of the Perito Moreno village, it makes one of the most remarkable expressions of cave art throughout the Patagonia region.
The construction of the facilities in the capital city of Córdoba province was directed by Jesuit missionaries and executed by thousands of local indians who became knowledgeable in brickworking, goldsmithing, cabinetmaking and blacksmithing. Their work is imprinted with a unique style resulting from the blend between native art and European barroco.
Put together, both parks cover an area of 275,300 hectares in a desert region of San Juan and La Rioja provinces. They count the most complete continental fossil traces of the Triassic Period (which dates back to 245-208 million years ago) identified to date.
Located in Jujuy province, in the northwest region of Argentina, the extensive valley of Humahuaca ravine treasures over 10,000 years of history. Its trails, which used to be toured by native indians from different ethnic groups, have preserved religious beliefs, as well as rites, celebrations, art, music and farming techniques until the present time, making up a living heritage of history.
